The staff really couldn’t do enough to help us there was a lovely waitress with her hair in plaits who was over on a work visa from London who was so happy & was checking everybody was happy with their meals I told her that she was an asset to the Norfolk for being so pleasant to everybody

Staff were all excellent. Room was large, clean, bed was comfortable, housekeeping was daily and of a good standard. Location cannot be beat, right in the heart of Fremantle, walking distance to everything, bus stops nearby. The downsides: rooms are not soundproofed - you don’t get noise from the bar on the ground floor but you definitely get disturbed by any conversations being held in the doorway or doors being opened and closed. The bathroom was TINY, and cold (I visited in winter but still), and even though they provide a kettle and coffee machine, the bathroom basin is the only way to get water and it’s too small to fit anything other than a cup under the tap. You can fill a water bottle in the bar downstairs when the staff are there from 8am. I thought I’d lost an item and spoke to 3 staff members on separate occasions who each assured me they’d check with housekeeping for it and forward the message to the next shift leader and then the next time I asked about it the next person wouldn’t have a clue what I was talking about (lucky for me it was just hidden under something in my room!).

Great Lunch

I went there with a friend for lunch today and we had a lovely lunch. I had whiting, chips, and salad. My friend had gnocchi with bread on the side. Both dishes were delicious. We shared a bottle of Dreambird Chardonnay from Geographe, which we enjoyed. Later, I bought a glass of Chardonnay, and Matthew at the bar was very helpful in advising me which of the two Chardonnays available might be the more preferable. Anthony, who I’ve encountered at the Norfolk for years, was, as always, a pleasure to deal with and packaged up my leftovers to take away.

We had an ensuite and there was no door to the bathroom. The dust behind the TV was awful. The fridge froze everything. The bed was incredibly soft and uncomfortable. The stairs to the room were hard to navigate with bags as they were very steep. The blinds didn't close on one window. Staff were nice, welcome drink appreciated, location unbeatable and good value for Freo.

The staff were always very helpful during our week long stay. Housekeeping was 100% awesome. Great hotel for location as everything was within walking distance.
