Chill vibe

Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms are very clean along with the rest of the hostel. Facilities are also very good and location is convenient; easy to access anywhere within walking distance. Staff and everyone else is super friendly and there’s a very chill and welcoming vibe.

They would not check me in due to my age

Though I was only staying one night they refused to check me in because I was 51 and it was only one night I’m more respectful and could party harder than any of their guests and I was in town volunteering at a music festival had disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

Clean and homely stay

I liked my stay at Backpackers a lot. I stayed in a four person unisex room. Room was clean and calm to get a good sleep. The place is small and feels more like a home. Especially I want to mention that they keep all the facilities super clean! That is not so common at backpacker places.

Good

A typical hostel. Beds are okay but top bunks don’t have side rails. Had good and clean kitchen and community areas.
A lot of the current residents have been there for months which makes it difficult to meet other backpackers.
Showers were the best I have had in a hostel!
Not a lot to do in Newcastle but it’s nice for a night or two

The ‘’Home’’ where you’re looking for...

I didn’t expect anything in Newcastle because I think it’s a small town...But then I found this hostel which is really close to the tram station (if you depart from Sydney)...just want to give a big shout out to Eve who helped me to check in...Thanks a lot Anne who is the owner with the incredible purpose ‘’to make travellers happy when travelling in Newcastle’’ .... btw you gotta try her Harrys Chicken Schnitzel (I’m mouth-watering atm).... If you want to experience real ‘’Newcastle’’ then you know where you’re gonna stay..
