When in Melrose, eat here.

Went for a mid week evening meal. I chose the chicken parmi and it was the best - large succulent chicken parmi lightly crumbed with hot chips & plentiful garden salad. Great pub food and cold beer in quaint old style dining room. Friendly efficent service. I learnt that this pub is under new management and this town has lucked in. Decor is quaint... remember to read the bar ceilings.

Clean and tidy

Friendly owners doing renovations at the moment to both the pub and accomodations. The ensuite room I had for 3 nights was very clean. I don’t mind that it was old and is yet to have its renovation. Tidy and compact I managed to use the small table as a desk when I needed to. Lots of power points helped me. The air-conditioner worked perfectly in Room 3 during this weeks heatwave. I would stay again in future.

Melrose is a great place to visit , great bike shop , we stayed at “Under the Mount “ a really well run place .

Obviously new management, the last visit the food was old style good pub grub.
This time I can only describe it as disgusting , what a load of rubbish.
We should have listened to some of the other patrons and walked out before paying .
I’ve been in hospitality for 40 years and have never had a worse experience.
Let’s hope they move on ASAP , book at the North Star well in advance as it’s the only edible food in town .

Top meal, good stay!

We paid $90 for the room which was small and oldish, but adequate with bathroom, tea coffee , fridge and toaster.
The owners were really nice! We actually thought we would be staying in the gorgeous old pub but the rooms are next door.
Now to the meal! Fabulous!!! My schnitzel was huge but so tender, nice chips salad. The garlic bread was delish. Nachos was good too. Lovely wines by the glass. A lot of atmosphere here!

Absolutely amazing

Had a wonderful meal tonight, it was humongous! But delicious, if their was one complaint the chips weren't hot enough but I'm being picky! I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends
