Bad Experience Steam going from my ears

I booked a Queen Ensuite Heritage Room in April, to arrive and find sorry rooms all booked, with no commutation, moved us to a motel type room. NOT what we wanted.
Managed to get us into Heritage shared bathroom double bed option which was dirty and no way was I using the shower, very sad for the start of out holiday and $10.00 refund. Will never stay again and never recommend.
Love staying in the heritage hotels and don't mind the shared bathroom, but this is not what you see in the photo's.

Great location but completely dilapidated property. Many things do not work -- such as telephone in the room or the lock box in the room.
Location:: the property is only 2 blocks away from Esplanade. Right next to this hotel is where all the homeless gather. Just cross the road and everything is great.
Breakfast: cornflakes, sandwich, croissant, juice
The problem is: no one was eager to listen or fix the problem. Change the safety lock box - NO, change the phone -- NO. Bathroom old and water taps broken
Good value. Just need to set the right expectations

Good value for money

We were getting in late to cairns so didn’t want to spend a lot of money for a few hours sleep. So it was great for that.
The bathroom needed to be cleaned better
Looked like mopped with dirty mop cause gunk flicked up on the lower walls
Fridge really smelly
Bed was clean
Walking distance to everything and good nightlife

That’s a terrible experience that you should avoid at any cost. The facility (not a hotel as you may think) looks like an abandoned building with more or less functioning amenities. No wifi, and rooms aren’t cleaned up upon request (holding the “cleanup tag” at the door knob). On the other hand, guests to the hotel seem to have a common attitude of screaming and shouting in the middle of the night - not sure why, hence wall isolation is extremely poor. Overall bad experience and I had to put my phone in rooming during my stay to access the internet (had to pay $20/day), which could be spent on a decent hotel nearby

Not worth the price paid.

Hair in the shower.
Ceiling fan had a big hole in the roof.
Faulty kettle had to stand there and wait for it to boil Because the lid would not close and turn it off Manually.
Netflix would not work.
Room never serviced in six days of stay.
Bed was hard as rocks.
Only two out of eight usb ports working.
One positive was the staff were very friendly.
A safe without a key.
