A quality hotel with a need for an upgrade

As a Hilton Diamond member, I have stayed at many Hilton group properties. This is our first time stay at Doubletree Hilton Cairns.
We stayed at a King Balcony Ocean view room for 6 nights on 14th August. The hotel boasts one of the best locations in Cairns. It is situated right in the city center, surrounded by myriad of restaurants and bars. Taxi from Cairns airport to the hotel only takes approximate 10 minutes. My room enjoys a sweeping ocean view.
We walked from the hotel to the reef terminal where most the great barrier reef tours depart in less than 15 minutes.
The hotel has an outdoor pool and a small gym. The gym is very small and for my opinion, it is not very useful. It only has a couple of bikes and treadmills, a few weights and small workout station. Given the size and rating of the hotel, the gym certainly needs an timely upgrade.
My room is well appointed with a nice balcony. We enjoyed the sunrise and sunset from our balcony.
It is disappointing to learn that Hilton Diamond members are only entitled to continental breakfast which a noticeable sign of cost cutting. We used to have full breakfast as a diamond members in the past.
While the hotel has a very high standard, many areas show its need for a timely upgrade. For instance, our room has a number of areas that had cosmetic touch up. The wall picture is missing while the hook is still on the wall.
The hotel staff are very friendly and professional. 10 out of 10 for the services.

This was great hotel, in a fantastic location. We had a balcony room at the front of the building and it had a great view.
My only criticism is that breakfast finishes very early for a hotel that is in a holiday location but we did find plenty of options around the city.
Over all great hotel in a good location with friendly and helpful staff.

Mountain view sunsets

Recommend a (level 7)mountain view room,great sunsets whereas sea view looks out across mudflats!
Rooms are big,great bar for afternoon cocktails.

2 night stay - 3 adults

2 night stay with three adults in a room with 2 double beds. Good location, nice pool with pool towels. Bathroom compact - toiletries provided. Decent view. Comfortable beds. Can be loud as the door is on an open corridor so noise travels from the ground up! Bar closed very early. Breakfast good. One restaurant was nice and lovely food but again closes at 830pm. Would be nice nice to have a quiet area downstairs. Table tennis table available. Reception staff nice.
