Absolutely special place!
This gem is special. This is a small hotel with maybe 30ish rooms. The staff were so welcoming, attentive and helpful. The pool and lounge area as well as the common areas all feel very chic and cosy. It was stylish and immaculate in every way. Definitely a very chill, cool vibe here. Great location as well. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.

Beautiful property. Exceptional Service
From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that Basq House is unlike the typical Byron Bay accommodation. This boutique hotel has moved away from the predictable beach house aesthetic, replacing it with a refined, contemporary design that feels sophisticated and effortlessly stylish.
Its central location is ideal, with restaurants, cafés, spa/bathhouse, the beach and other local attractions and amenities all within an easy walk. Despite being in the heart of Byron Bay, the hotel feels intimate and peaceful.
The boutique property creates a sense of warmth and comfort. Every space has been thoughtfully designed, with warm earthy tones, beautiful textures and a natural flow that makes the hotel feel both elegant and inviting.
The communal areas are impressive, with cosy lounges, fireplaces and leather armchairs creating spaces where you genuinely want to curl up and read a book, play a board game or just get away from a screen. You can tell the decor is thoughtfully chosen, individual and intentional.
The rooms are immaculate. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the warm tones, brass fittings and Australian made botanical amenities to the local hand blended teas, plush towels, linen robes and cleverly concealed appliances and hidden bins that maintain the clean, minimalist aesthetic.
While there isn’t a restaurant on site, the hotel’s location means you’ll never be short of dining options. A light continental “breakfast” featuring healthy bars, protein balls, muffins, tea and coffee provides the perfect light start to the day, while filtered water, fresh fruit, pretzels and nuts are available throughout the day. The welcome drin, a beautiful French Malbec, with other options available, is a thoughtful touch.
The temperature controlled magnesium pool is another standout feature. The use of magnesium instead of chlorine adds to the hotel’s focus on wellness and relaxation.
Basq House is genuinely one of the finest hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and I particularly love that it’s Australian owned.

The team are casually warm, genuine and effortlessly welcoming. Rather than the formality often associated with luxury hotels. They have an ease among each other and create an atmosphere that feels relaxed and personal. It’s obvious the team enjoy what they do and enjoy working together.
It’s no surprise that a hotel recognised in the 2025 Michelin Guide delivers outstanding hospitality, but the team at Basq House elevates service to an entirely different level. They take the time to get to know their guests and provide recommendations that are thoughtful and personal rather than rehearsed. As someone who loves great food, I especially appreciated that their restaurant suggestions came with recommendations for specific dishes, proof they have been there and know the local dining scene.
General Manager Laurent leads an exceptional, service focused team. Laura, Nina and Magda consistently go above and beyond, delivering a level of hospitality that exceeds even the expectations of many five-star hotels.
Luxury properties often impress with beautiful interiors and premium amenities. Basq House certainly has both. But it’s the small team who make this place truly unforgettable. The team are the real stars that make Basq House exceptional.

Beautiful hotel with great thought out into all the details. From the moment we walked in it felt relaxed, stylish and comfortable. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. We’ve already booked to go back. A new favourite in Byron.

Magic
We stayed 4 nights at the end of our month trip to South East Australia. The hotel is human-sized with a perfect decoration in every detail , a complementary team dedicated to guest satisfaction , kindness , availability , competence , wise advice , and personalized exchanges to feel “at home “. Thanks in particular to Laura French on site for a long time for the quality of our exchanges. Congratulations to the manager Laurent for giving this dynamic to the place.

Perfect stay in luxurious small hotel
My sister and I stayed in this hotel for three nights and it was absolutely fabulous. The hotel was extremely beautiful with eye for details, the staff was super friendly and always helping us out whenever we had questions about restaurants or to do’s in the neighbourhood. Their recommendations really made a difference. It really felt like coming home. They also have free bikes available, board games and a free drinks station with milk and water. The pool is super nice and convenient.
