Cozy and Clean Hostel

Cozy and clean hostel in brisbane. Around 1 hour by train from/to Brisbane CBD, then walk around 15 mins from Manly station. Pretty close to Manly harbour. Surrounded by pubs / restaurants, so don't expect to sleep well at the weekend nights because it's quite noisy.
The owner and "mama / aunty" always keep the hostel clean and separate the rooms for people who stay for long term and short term, so the hostel still cozy for newcomer / short term tenants.
Bathroom clean. Bedroom clean. We get our own bed linen and we're not allowed to use our own bed linen to prevent bedbugs.

Unfriendly and loud

Stayed one night in this hostel and was rather disappointed. I know you get what you pay for and I was happy with the facilities but the young receptionist was horribly rude, yelled at me when I asked him questions and repeatedly talked over me. Whole mannerism was incredibly unwelcoming.
Didn't sleep a wink because of music blaring from the bars around the hostel.
Would not recommend.

Absolutely lovely!!

This place is genuinely lovely - take it from a backpacker who has been 10 months on the road. The rooms are HUGE in comparison to other hostels (lush bunk beds too!), kitchens clean, there’s a freezer, tv, free wifi! Bathroom attached to the dorm (classical room, 6 bed) AND Manly is bloody lovely! So glad I literally stumbled across this place!!

Don't expect much

So after we have been free camping for a week we thought we should treat ourselves to a bed for a night. We should have just stuck with the tent.
First off we booked first thing in the morning and it was cheap and cheerful. Then we get an email from management saying "give us a good review and we will give you a private room for the night".
We arrived and he just gave us a private room anyway (our group of 4 in a 10 share) and said no one else was to be booked in here. So after an early wake up call the morning before almost being swept out to sea by the rain we tried to nap.
I have had farts that have cushioned me more than these mattresses. So realise I'm not gonna sleep so I go for a shower.
It's held together with sticky tape and doesn't even stay in one place. You have to hold the head with one hand while you shower.
Decided to get out of the place and cheer our selfs up with food in Brisbane. We get back and there's people in our rooms that have moved all our stuff off our beds for themselves.
Furthermore the nightclub downstairs may as well be in the bloody room for how loud it is. And I haven't even stayed over night yet.

Friendly cheap and chilled

The hostel is cheap, friendly and very relaxed/chilled. All rooms are dorms which are basic but for the price what more do you expect. Power points next to every bed, Tv room, fridge and freezer. The wifi isnt the best but you are welcome to sit in the restaurant next door and use it. Free basic breakfast every day (cereal and bread).
Check-in is very flexible, majority of the staff are friendly. No A/C
If you stay and visit the restaurant next door you get deals.
The local harbour town has a sunday market and has close amenities with good transport links to the city and other locations such as nearby islands.
