Some how it won my heart

So we arrived having been on a 14 hour bus to them
Not seeming to have any idea that they were expecting us. They tried twice to put us in a dorm
Room despite us having booked a double. We eventually were shown to a good size twin room. Clean but sheets were ripped a bit. Shower was good when the hot water came out but can be boiling. Bathroom in general was tired and not that inviting. But somehow this place won our hearts. The staff were great and so helpful. They discounted our room due to a adhoc party that just happened. They were always smiling. Building work seemed to be happening so maybe they are updating? I usually would have been annoyed by the lack of organisation and the tardy rooms but the staff made my stay really good and it was relaxed here. Close to the bus station - walking distance ( a cab tried to charge us £17 for 1 km ride so beware).

Good place to meet people!

I stayed here for 5 nights to see the north and south of the Salta region. This place is really good for meeting fellow travellers to share a car or go hitchhiking together. The vibe is chill, the staff is super friendly, the beds are sweet and the place is close to both the centre and the busstation: really recommend staying here!

Not 'linda'!

I only stayed two nights here and must say that the guys on reception (24 hours) were super friendly and helpful. E.g. They let me leave my stuff there all day after checkout while I was on a tour, then change when i got back too. At no charge.
However - the kitchen and bathrooms didn't feel clean at all tho and I used them as little/quickly as possible. Wifi was sketchy unless you sat in reception.
Dorm was comfortable enough and had cupboards with space for padlocks but the paint was peeling and there were big dents in the wall, not sure what from...
Just felt shabby - which is a shame as it could be really lovely with a bit of attention.

Great place to socialise!

We stayed for 2 nights between arriving from San Pedro & traveling to Mendoza. Great hostel. Large open plan kitchen in which we ended up cooking with a couple of other travellers to save money. Due to the position of Salta you also meet people coming from the south of the continent, nearing midway, as we were from the north.
Great to exchange ideas, experiences & potential routes for those of you not tied down by tours or advance bookings.
Large outdoor space at the back of the property with TV & Fusball, and BYOB - the travellers dream!!

Disappointing security

Only spent one night here in a 4 bed door that we (2 people) ended up having to ourselves. Our main issue was security - no buzzer on the main door so anybody could theoretically walk in, and no keys for the doors so anybody who is in the hostel can get into any other dorm. We were travelling with a few valuables and so this was disconcerting, as lockers (which were provided) can be easily tampered with if someone is determined. They also do not provide a secure left luggage room so we brought our valuables with us on a day trip instead.
The location is further away from the main tourist areas than others but good if, like us, you need to be near to the bus station (about 5 blocks). The kitchen is generous and there seemed to be a decent atmosphere but hard to tell in one night. Showers have good hot water but pressure changes can lead to a scalding!
